The Red Keep and Baron Bloodmore

Before movies like Saw and The Conjuring came around, the tone of horror films was often gothic with an ironic twist. We only bring it up because Thunderkick’s newest slot game has a fantastically throwback aesthetic that makes us long for the days of Hammer Horror films like Dracula and The Curse of Frankenstein. If the title doesn’t give it away, this slot is about an aristocratic vampire and his brides, and it’s called Baron Bloodmore and the Crimson Castle.

Please enjoy your stay at Crimson Castle.

This slot machine has five reels and 25 paylines, and it’s set on a balcony that looks out over what we presume to be the courtyard of Crimson Castle. It’s dusk, or close to it, and the fog is getting thick enough that the light from the castle windows seems eerie.

Besides the usual high card values (J, Q, K, and A), the reels also feature a golden vulture, a white wolf, a gargoyle, and the suave Baron Bloodmore. The three vampire women are wilds, the skull is the scatter for free spins, and the castle is the scatter for cash. Those scatter symbols will be addressed later on in more depth.

If you liked reading horror comics as a teenager, you’ll probably appreciate the graphic style of this game. In-game, you’ll be accompanied by orchestral music, and the various carefully chosen sound effects will add to the ‘horror classic’ feel.

Great Mysterious Symbol

A Massive Mystery Symbol, in addition to the regular game symbols, may emerge on any spin. This 3×3 icon appears exclusively on the middle three reels and has no further use. In order to increase your chances of getting several winning lines, when it lands it will randomly change into one of the other symbols (but never into the free spins scatter).

Bonus Round of Free Spins

When three or more scatter symbols depicting free spins appear anywhere on the reels at the same time, the Free Spins Bonus Game is triggered. The amount of free games you receive is determined by the number of scatters that activated the bonus round. Scatters award 10, 15, or 20 bonus games when 3, 4, or 5 are found.

The thrill of this feature is amplified by the fact that the Giant Mystery Symbol appears throughout every free spin. This Bonus Game offers far higher odds of winning than the base game, increasing the value of the free spins.

Bonus for Blood-Red Dollars

Baron Bloodmore and the Crimson Castle also has a fantastic Crimson Cash Bonus Game. The condition for this to take place is the appearance of the cash scatter symbol on reels 3, 2, and 1. This will result in a new set of reels being used in place of the usual ones, with only multiplier symbols and blank spaces representing the bet size. The value of the bet multipliers can range from 1x to 50x.

You start this Bonus Game with three free rotations. However, the number of bonus spins resets to three if a symbol appears on an empty reel. Once a symbol lands, it stays put, thus the goal is to gather as many of them as you can before you run out of turns.

When you fill all five of the highlighted cells with symbols, you’ll earn a pattern bonus. Every symbol’s multiplier value in that arrangement will be added up, then added to the value of a center sign, and ultimately multiplied by two. After these pattern symbols are eliminated, a new lighting configuration will be displayed.

There are two unique icons that can display here. One of them is a Spawn symbol, which multiplies the value of all other symbols in play. The other is a Copy symbol, which can be used to store the values of any other symbols.

This functionality, as you can undoubtedly guess, is challenging to express in words and is better grasped through actual activation and playback. Let’s just say it’s exciting and has the potential to bring in a lot of money.

Possible Up to 25,000x Payout!

Playing Baron Bloodmore and the Crimson Castle is the only way to truly understand how great of a slot machine it is. It’s has a great classic horror theme, tons of cool extras, and the possibility to win up to 25,000 times your initial wager. You must be a zombie if you can’t get your teeth into this game.
